Mac Meeting Minutes
02/12/13

Bobbie, our President opened the meeting at 2:00 PM. There were 37 in attendance. The next scheduled meeting is March 12th.

Bobbie shared she was having problems with a new flash drive and called the 800 number on the wrapping. She was able to get the help she needed to get it to work correctly. Lesson learned, keep the wrapping. Also, a suggested idea is to put a flash drive on a keychain with identification of its contents using a “plastic” sleeve for example. She reminded us that the “MacPro Video Lessons” (free trial for 30 Days) is still on the raffle table for members.

Bobbie then shared the purpose of the HavaMac Club stated in the Constitution.
“THE PURPOSE OF HAVAMAC IS TO ENCOURAGE AND ADVANCE PERSONAL COMPUTING, EDUCTION, AND TECHNICAL EXCHANGE AMONG MACINTOSH COMPUTER OWNERS, THOSE INTERESTED IN MACINTOSH, AND OTHERS INTERESTED IN PERSONAL COMPUTING AND TO DO OTHER LAWFUL AND APPROPRIATE THINGS TO ADVANCE AND MAINTAIN HAVAMAC.” It is not our purpose to endorse any person or business.

Bobbie talked about “Dual Layer DVD’s. These DVD’s hold more than 2 hours. Some movies, videos are more than 2 hours. Members joined in to share their experiences. Pam added more items to the “raffle table.” Her efforts are appreciated. We count on members to donate items for the raffle table. If you have any thing for the table, please bring it to the meetings. Bobbie then asked how many go to the Club’s website - not many. She reminded us that everything we teach is on line. “Notes” are under “Links” on the homepage.

Ernie will do the March demo on iMovie. He says its simple, fast and easy. Jean and Ernie have been doing many of our demos. If any of our members would like to do a demo on anything even a “short” demo you have learned it would be appreciated. Don’t be bashful. Also advise Bobbie if there are any topics you would like to see a demo of.

Bobbie talked about the folder with a CD that new members receive. The folder info is for Snow Leopard and back. She hopes to update. It still holds valuable information.

Bill drew 6 tickets for the raffle. The meeting was then turned over to Jean who presented a demo on backing up your computer. Jean stated “if you are not backing up your computer, you are at risk of loosing everything.” Some of the topics she discussed were TimeMachine, external drives, Time Capsule, and many other options available on the Internet. Jean’s notes are posted on HavaMac website.

Bill drew 1 ticket for the members only table. Due to the length of the demo, there were no round tables. Bobbie adjourned the meeting at 3:50 PM. Many members stayed to discuss and share information.
