5/8/12

The meeting was called to order at 2:10 by Bobbie, President.
June 12th will be our next meeting.
There were technical difficulties with the screen so while we were delaying the meeting, we had our raffle drawings. 8 lucky  members got to draw from the table.
PixelofInk.com, can give you a list free books and clickable links, so you can download to a Kindle, iPad or computer.

Short break into roundtable groups for question and answer session.

“Cut the Cable.  Break the Dish.” Was the title of  Paul’s presentation at 3:10. There has got to be a better way to watch TV and not spend so much money.  Wirefree communications is one service provider for $39.95 a month, (Paul’s recommendation).  Used to be Red River next to the Red Onion Restaurant.   The 3 parts you need :  Router, HDMI cable, & Ethernet cable.  You will also
need High speed internet connection.  Step 1:  Run Ethernet cable from your High Speed source (Modem) to your router.
Setup your router by following the instructions that came with it to create a home network. It’s best to create a pass phrase (WPA/WEP) security so that you can access your home network and you’re neighbor can’t. Step 2:
Obtain an older computer that has a wireless network card and a HDMI outport. Step 3:  Home Network:  set up laptop to access your home network.  Paul showed us some Video’s he took at his home to show the way he saves a lot of money by accessing Television from his internet connection. Most channels can be accessed online.

After presentation we again split into small groups for questions and answers.

Meeting adjourned at 4:00.

Respectfully submitted,
Carlene Howard
Secretary
