Kenny’s Bio about who he is and what
we do at Revelation Motorcycles
My name is Kenny McElwain and I make my home in
Lake Havasu City, AZ but I am originally from Sturgis, SD.
My dad bought my
brother and me our first bike at age 10 and I purchased my first Harley
Davidson at age 22. Today I am 49 and I literally eat, breathe and think
about Harleys constantly. Many tell me I bleed orange and black. My garage
is all done in Orange and Black with every Harley memorabilia you can imagine.
One bedroom is all done in Harley including carpet, bedspread and awesome
paintings by Scott Jacobs. In fact my wife’s wedding ring is the
Harley Davidson insignia ring full of diamonds. My passion when I am
not riding is wrenching on Harleys. While I have a shop in Havasu called
Macs Bike and Body Works the economy has pretty well shut it down and
it now is in my garage. However I still wrench and have built my own
bikes called Revelation Motorcycles. This spring my wife and I are relocating
back to Sturgis, SD to open another shop called Old Skool cycle
Works. I hope to have the shop opened before Sturgis rally of this year.
We have the property now it is just about building the shop and getting
started. I love the Black Hills and want to come back home something
fierce. I believe this shop will give me the opportunity to come home
to the place I was raised and give back to a community that gave so much
to me while I was growing up. Arizona is nice but the riding is
limited in the Black Hills this is not the case. While I have ridden
all over South Dakota in over 39 years of riding it I still have not
seen it all. So moving back will give me a chance to keep on riding and
experiencing all its beauty.
I am always up to a challenge so when I heard about the Hoka Hey Challenge
I jumped right on it. I love to ride and have gone as far as 1000 miles
in one day so to be able to push myself further is a challenge I am ready
to take. My wife and I have traveled all over the Western US and Canada
on our Ultra Classic Harley and I have ridden from Lake Havasu City, AZ
which is on the AZ/CA border to Daytona, FL and back and from Lake Havasu
City, AZ to La Conia, NH.
When you hear the saying "Ride to Live and Live to Ride" that
just about says it all about me. Rain, shine, snow, wind, you name it
I have ridden in it. That’s how passionate I am about riding. The
only thing more important to me than riding is my relationship with God,
(which I recommend to anyone riding out here) and my wife and family.
While I am definitely all about winning and helping my family with the
money I am also about the ride. Just to have an opportunity like this
and to say I did it is a pleasure within itself not to mention a great
feat if I survive it. After all I am not getting any younger so I do
not know if I will ever have this opportunity again. As far as the prize
money goes, I am no different than many out there riding today who has
been hit by this economy. But through my faith in God and perseverance
of never giving up my wife and I have been sustained though we truly
don’t know how.
It has to be God. So the money will come in handy to pay off all debt
and to owe no man anything ever again except to love him. You have no
idea what a blessing that would be and how much I have learned about
never wanting to be in debt again.
As mentioned earlier I build custom motorcycles called Revelation Motorcycles.
I have a web site called revelationmotorcycles.com that pictures some of
the bikes I have built. The reason it is called Revelation is all my bikes
have names taken from scripture out of the book of Revelation in the Bible.
When you go to my web site you can learn all about my bikes and me.
I have never gone to school to learn how to wrench on bikes. All my knowledge
comes from first hand experience of just doing it. I have been building
bikes and hot rods for people since I was 18 and graduated from Wyoming
Technical institute in Laramie, WY for paint and body work in 1979.
I am fortunate that I share my life with my wife, Dawn, who loves to
ride as much as I do. While my wife does not ride her own anymore she
loves sitting behind me and sharing our time together on the road wherever
we may be. She even wrenches on bikes when needed although getting dirty
and greasy is not usually her thing. She too has first hand knowledge
of the hazards of riding in any kind of weather and has been riding on
Harleys since she was 15 years of age. So I guess after this long it
is beyond just a passion for us it is in our blood.
I believe in God and country. I am Native American and believe this country
has taken a turn for the worse. There are not enough people out there
willing to fight for America besides our troops. We have become complacent.
We have taken prayer out of school, and God out of the Pledge of Allegiance.
I can’t understand this thinking. I said the Pledge of Allegiance
everyday in school and I believe it is what has made me so patriotic today.
Today I am proud to be an American and proud to represent God and country.
One Nation under God with liberty and justice for all doesn’t even
exist, and I believe it should. My concern is how many in our future generation
can recite the Pledge of Allegiance. How many know, “ for which it
stands”? This is scary but this is the future we are heading for.
I am a solid American and standup and fight for our liberties and I am
against the injustices that are done by our government and whomever.
I believe as an American I should be allowed to ride free and want it
to stay that way. I think this challenge represents all I am stating
and if I am one of many chosen to ride, I feel privileged to of been
given the opportunity and will ride proudly my American made Harley Davidson
to the best of my ability.

Hi,
We're Ken and Dawn McElwain, founders of Revelation Motorcycles Ministries.
We would like to take this time to tell you a little about us and how
Revelation Motorcycles Ministries began.
Both Dawn and I grew up riding with outlaw motorcycle gangs. We understand
the lifestyle of living and riding in so-called freedom, brotherhood,
and the thrill of living on the edge.
The difference is today we truly do ride free and don't have to live
with having to always look over our shoulders or wake up with a gut ache
sick feeling wondering what the day will bring.
The goal of Revelation Motorcycles Ministries is to show others how you
can still have the companionship, the brother and sisterhood, and bond
of friendship without having to live in the bondage of fear, anxiety,
or always feeling like you have to perform for someone or be something
you're not or don't want to be.
Jesus came to set the captives free and today both Dawn and I are free from
the chains that bound us. Hebrews 4:15 & 16 tells us Jesus understands
all we've been through because He Himself has been there. The best part
is we don't have to go through anything alone.
Hebrews 13:5 is the promise from God that says, He will not leave us
or relax His hold on us. Revelation Motorcycles Ministries stands on
the promises of God.
If this introduction has touched you in any way or you just want to know
more about Revelation Motorcycles Ministries, then we would love to hear
from you.
Just email us at revelationmm@yahoo.com or
write us at P.O. Box 3710, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405
God Bless you and we look forward to hearing from you.
Ken & Dawn
